The application of nitrogen generators in laser cutting

The nitrogen generator can achieve non-oxidation, high precision and low defect cutting effects in laser cutting, while significantly reducing long-term gas supply costs. It is a standard configuration for high-power precision laser cutting production lines.

The core function of the auxiliary gas in laser cutting is to remove slag, cool the material, and prevent oxidation. Nitrogen serves as an inert protective gas, and its key role is:

1)Prevent oxidation reaction
Nitrogen does not undergo oxidation combustion with high-temperature metals, and the cutting surface does not form an oxide layer. This enables an oxidation-free, bright-cut surface, which is suitable for subsequent precision processing procedures such as welding, spraying, electroplating, and bending.

2)Efficient slag removal
High-pressure nitrogen creates a high-speed airflow, physically blowing away the molten metal, preventing slag adhesion, slag accumulation, and cut-off blockage, ensuring narrow cuts and high precision.

3)Suppressing thermal influence and deformation
Reducing the heat release from material surface oxidation, reducing the width of the heat-affected zone, and improving the cutting accuracy and edge straightness of thin plates, high-reflection materials, and precision parts.

4)Suitable for highly reactive / prone-to-oxidation metals
Specifically designed for high-reactive and prone-to-oxidation materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy, copper, and brass. Oxygen cutting will cause severe oxidation and discoloration, damaging the material properties. Nitrogen gas is the optimal solution.

Applicable scenarios:

Precision cutting of medium and thin sheets of non-carbon steel and easily oxidizable metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and titanium alloys.

High quality requirements for the cutting surface: no oxidation, suitable for direct welding / parts for surface treatment.

Continuous mass production laser cutting workshop, aiming to reduce costs and ensure stable gas supply.
Main supporting process for high-power fiber laser cutting (megawatt level).

Non-applicable scenarios:

Ordinary low-carbon steel / carbon steel priority oxygen cutting: Oxygen can undergo combustion and release heat, thereby increasing the cutting speed and thickness limit. Nitrogen cutting of carbon steel is slow and costly; it is only used when there are no oxidation requirements.
